TIEFENBACH AXLE COUNTER SYSTEM - TECHNICAL STRUCTURE

N01  24V DC-DC power supply
N02  12V DC-DC power supply
N03  Fuse Holder
N1    Buffer amplifier
N3    Counter logic module
N4    Relay comparator - cleared/occupied
N6    Axle counter reset logic

The modular structure of the system allows many varied types of applications to be accommodated in a manner that has cost-saving potential, e.g. the double wheel sensors can be assigned multiple uses.
This makes it possible for the user to install only as much technology as is operationally required.

Basic functions:

  • The occupied notification by the axle counter circuit is generated by damping one of the two double wheel sensor (DSS) sensor systems.
Depending on the direction of movement over the double wheel sensor, the axles are counted up or counted down by a two-channel electronic counter. Both double wheel sensors in the axle counter circuit can be used to simultaneously count up or count down.

  • A clear notification is issued when the same number of incoming axles is counted as outgoing axles. This secure comparison is achieved by comparing the counter values in both counter channels.

  • Checking the DSS sensor systems for conductor breakage, conductor short circuit and correct attachment of the DSS to the rail.

  • Axle counter reset using a push button operation or using a key switch

  • Optional: diagnosis computer (1 board) with an event log to store and display axle counter cleared/occupied status, number of axles counted, reset status, power loss status with time stamps and a RS232 interface for connection to a printer, notebook or data line modem.
